Media training
Most people think that press interviews will be a ’Jeremy Paxman’ experience - that’s not the case. Journalists want you to have a story to tell and are interested in a contact who can give them a good angle at short notice. So the challenge is to have a story, at speed, with powerful messages and concise examples. We’ll work to develop a process for you, to help you structure your material and hone it down to punchy key messages. We’ll then explore how you come across, tone and body language, looking relaxed and at ease while controlling how the interview develops. You’ll practice mock interviews on video and be given extensive feedback.
What we’ll cover:
- Create a process you feel secure with
- How to link into your key messages - techniques to keep you on track and in control and become answer led not question led
- Play with tone - how you say what you say
- Look at your body language, eye contact, active listening
- Develop your own style and strengths - deal with any tensions or bad habits
- Help you come across as natural and relaxed - yet reach the audience beyond the camera
A full media training session will take 3-4 hours. Shorter sessions to prepare for specific interviews can also be arranged.
