Presentation Skills
Good presenting is communicating with purpose, clarity and passion. What gets in the way is our fear and self doubt. My job is to make you secure and confident about presenting, to help you enjoy it and develop your own style. We’ll start by looking at your material and the structure, what you want to achieve by the presentation and how to engage the audience with concise clear messages that resonate with them. Then we’ll move onto how you present, exploring your style, tone and body language, mannerisms, vocal problems and building your confidence. Having presence and impact comes from feeling relaxed, being conversational and having a clear sense of purpose. These qualities engage us - they’re also in your control.
Areas we’ll cover:
- Overall objective - knowing what you want to achieve
- Key messages - strong, memorable, persuasive messages
- Audience relevance - making it about them and for them
- Structure - how to structure your material and know what to leave out
- Tone and body language
- Dealing with fear and nerves
- Confidence - feeling strong in who you are and how you express yourself
- Work on vocal problems, breathing issues, mannerisms and areas of tension
- Developing your own individual style
- Being interesting - trusting that what you have to say is interesting and relevant to your audience
- Pausing and dealing with ’um’ - allowing yourself to breathe
- Injecting passion - finding how to emotionally connect with your material
- Having impact and presence
